Practice Information
The 2024-2025 season starts on Thursday September 5th!
We offer 2 weekly swim practices from September through the end of June.

July and August - we do not offer pool swim practice, but will schedule open water swims depending on weather and water conditions.
At practice, our coaches will greet you upon arrival and provide details of the practice. Whether you are a recreational swimmer or have competitive experience, we’ll organize the swimming lanes to place folks of similar levels together - all folks will be guided through a practice that’s appropriate to their skill level.

Before heading to the pool you’ll want to make sure you have goggles, swimsuit, towel and a water bottle!
Purple Fins are always encouraged to wear whatever is most comfortable for them in our space. We can help if you’re unsure where to get suitable swim attire or gear.
Swim caps aren’t required, but recommended for those with longer hair. You’ll get a silicone team swim cap once you’re formally registered with us!

We recommend arriving 15 minutes early. When you arrive, enter the building through the main entrance off of Sherbourne. Once inside, head down the hall to the right of the main reception desk towards the pool entrance. The pool reception will direct you into one of two Universal change rooms. The universal change rooms have lockers and individual changing stalls. We have private access to the entire pool so feel free to bring all your belongings onto the pool deck with you.

Swimmers typically begin to gather on the pool deck 15 minutes prior to the start of practice. Before getting started, the coaches will go over the practice plan and will explain everything to you before you jump in!

During practice, each lane has 2-5 swimmers and you’ll be placed into a lane with folks of similar experience and ability. There will be plenty of space for you to swim at your own pace and we’ll guide you through a practice that suits your skill level.

Our coaches are highly experienced and will make swimming work for you and your individual needs. We can modify and design practices to suit you, your goals, and your access needs.

Expect the workouts to progress from week to week to help build your swimming skills and fitness. You can also expect to receive regular feedback from the coaches on deck. All swimmers improve their fitness, skills and comfort in the water each week.
